News: Co-Founder Carra named as one of UK’s Top Female Design Champions
Carra has been named Runner Up: 2018 ACID Female Design Champion in the 1st Annual Award from ACID (Anti-Copying in Design), the UK’s leading design and intellectual property campaigning organisation.
Every 26th April, the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) celebrates World Intellectual Property Day to promote the role that intellectual property rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. In celebration of this, the annual ACID Female Design Champion Award, judged by Design Council and awarded by ACID, highlights examples of excellence, innovation and creativity in design.
For almost ten years, Carra has been at the intersection of food and design, applying her design skills and methodologies to change-making in food-related industry, in the knowledge that cultivating a positive food culture is key to positive economic, environmental and social change. Carra was named Runner-Up by Design Council “for the imaginative boundary breaking work she is doing between different individuals and highlighting IP in an imaginative way.”
“Both independently, and within my innovation and design studio, Mette, ACID has nurtured my understanding of intellectual property rights to help form a strong foundation for commercialisation of my own creative works and fair commission of others’. I share this knowledge among my network of freelancers, mentees and clients, to help propagate a fair and amicable mindset in business, and continually safeguard and add value to the design industry as a whole.”
— said Carra.
The announcement was made on World Intellectual Property Day, Thursday 26th April 2018. Dids Macdonald, OBE., CEO of ACID, hand-delivered a letter to the Prime Minister to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day’s theme for 2018: Powering Change - Women in Innovation and Creativity.
